New issue of Performance Bikes is on sale. Falco tested against Firestorm and Duke 900ss. And the winner is????????????????
Yeah, like you need to be told. Can't quote from the test cos I was reading my mate's copy, but the report should do Falco sales no harm at all. The world is definitely starting to wake up to one of the all time great bikes.
About bloody time too!!
By Oldgit on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 10:40 am:
Oh no, does this mean it will get as common as Honda and Ducati V-twin's
By Prilliant on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 12:57 pm:
Ah, good point Paul. Still, perhaps if they sell loads of'em Aprilia might start to take parts availability and after sales more seriously, right?????
Nah, that really would be too much to ask for.
Well, if you didn't laugh you'd cry.

Read the report earlier this evening. I was expecting a lot more info from this article (been waiting for it for last 2 mths), ie: more indepth info on road and track etc. Still a fairly good write-up against the others though.
Oh and that Blue is just soooo uummmmmmmmm
By Islefalco on Saturday, September 07, 2002 - 03:46 pm:
.....Inferior to yellow?
Read the report. Not a particularly informative piece of journalism, but the conclusion was about right.

Hi Neil, to be honest I have found no problems getting parts, but I haven't needed many, side stand switch being the only part that failed, I waited a few days for that, then there were a few bits I broke, as for dealers, I have found 'On yer bike'good at getting parts reasonably quickly.
Servicing problems I had were typical of the garage/bike trade all over the uk. They are happy to treat servicing as a way of ripping you off, ie not doing what you pay them for, with most bikers doing small mileage they get away with it.

I'm in Duesseldorf/Germany and don't have access to PB. Can anyone supply it, say in the form of a scanned copy???? ;-) please, please, please.
To trade (if most of you Falconeers don't already have it) I have a scanned copy of "suspension settings" for the Falco from another UK mag.

Only mag worse is Fast bollox, that lot can't even look at a bike unless it does 180mph and can lap the TT in 18 minutes or less. moan, groan, etc... hung over...raining...

Racerx, but will you understand all the words?
By Islefalco on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 07:50 am:
I have scanned the relevant pages of the mag and saved them as a PDF file. It is 8 pages and will take an age to download if you have a slow connection. I am willing to send it to anyone who wants it, via email.
By Oreo_N2 on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 08:09 am:
i'll take a copy, can you email it to
By Litre1 on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 09:28 am:

Scanning it as a PDF document produces a file that is way too big, even when zipped. I am going to scan it as a series of jpgs zip it up and send it to everyone that requested it.
Fed up with having it returned as exceeding your file size allowance.
Be pateint, its coming!
By Durangokid on Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - 03:57 pm:
Hope that I am not too late, but I'd like a copy too.
By Djr on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 12:18 am:

By Daz on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 02:18 am:

go on! you know it makes sense
By Islefalco on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 04:30 am:
I have sent it out in emails to all those that requested it. Let me know if it is readable.
Sent Daz a copy as well.
By Crmc33 on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 04:54 am:
Itll be a first if PB is readable!
By Islefalco on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 06:21 am:
Too right. I only bought it for the Falco article. The rest of it, well, I will not be subscribing!
RiDER Power survey should be published in this months RiDE magazine. I am waiting for my copy in the post. The 30 or so miles of water between the IOM and the UK seem to take the post a couple of days to cross, so I expect everyone else will know before me whether our efforts to get the Falco in this year worked.
By Racerxlilbro on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 07:37 am:
Thanks! Notice the AHEM color they chose to test???
The blue ones are fastest!
By Islefalco on Wednesday, September 11, 2002 - 07:51 am:
It was the only one left at the dealers.

I posted that whole article on the Fartstormer list (that was my last bike and I'm still on that list).
I like yanking the chain of Honda fans......

Don't we all?
By Tokas on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 06:41 am:
I want the article too...
...and can't find it on Daz's site. So can you please mail it to me? I can receive BIG emails on firstname.lastname@example.org
By Islefalco on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 07:23 am:
I have sent it to Daz, who will publish it on his site, so he says. I tried to scan a higher res copy but gave up and sent it to him via snail mail. A case of :if at first you don't succeed - give up".
By Geo on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 07:33 am:
I've posted the test on the US vtr list:
or if the link fails go to:
left column at the bottom click on
then click on "misc pictures"
You'll have to touch the screen with your noses to read the fine print though.
By Tokas on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 09:10 am:
Thanks for the test linked!
Hard on the eyes though...
By Sffalco on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 - 05:41 pm:
Hey Fellas did you notice the windscreen on that Falco in the Performance Bike article? TINTED!!! where the hell did they get that thing??? And why cant we get one???
By Benw on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 - 12:00 am:
All UK and Europe models are tinted. I assume you're from the States? I'm sure you can get one if you call a dealer here and get them to post it to you!
By Sffalco on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 06:02 pm:
EH?...I could have sworn I read some posts in this forum stating that tinted shields werent available to anyone?? I am in the states by the way and I have contacted every possible source for a tinted windscreen in the US. I have also bugged the Aprilia folk and they shuffle their feet and mumble something about tinted windscreens being illegal...wankers!!!. Anyway do you know of a dealer that would be willing to do that??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
By Kbomonfalco on Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 08:52 pm:
Bollux! (i think that's one of those euro words ) I was able to purchase the "alternate market" tinted screen from a dealer in Portland Or. The part number is 8139351. If your local dealer keeps telling you it's illegal, call Aprilia US and rat em out. Their number is 1-877-APRILIA. I can think of at least four other Falconeers who have also purchased one here in the states. I believe it's going for around $100 bucks. It's a light tint, but looks much better. HTH
By Wader2 on Friday, September 20, 2002 - 03:59 am:
Kevin's right, I ordered mine directly from my local aprilia dealer in SC. It's about $100 +/- and he got it in for me in about a week. Not as dark as I wanted but definitely a change for the better. Good luck!
By Sffalco on Monday, September 23, 2002 - 01:30 pm:
Well I am glad I bitched about the windscreen to you guys...I called my Dealer... Scuderia West and told them the deal and gave them the number and holy Sh1te!! Hey whadaya know? They have them available...They were so surprised that I enjoyed a good round of busting chops on their dereliction to their customers..hahaha...So its on order I just wanted to thank you Kbomonfalco, Wader2 and BenW for the Info...
