Hi.

I read about clutch problems and engine numbers. It seems that you can call your dealer about getting an updated pressure plate, as this may fix your problem.

Is this really true ?

Thanks.

mine is at 15k miles and slips only at very high RPMs at track days. haven't had it slip on the street yet, but i figure i should fix it soon anyway.

if you have engine number 689953 or lower, call your dealer about getting an updated pressure plate, as this may fix your problem.

While we're back on the subject of clutches: what sort of mileage have
people needed to replace their clutch plates at?

Mine started slipping last summer (after about 12000 miles) then seemed
to behave itself over winter, but now it's started again (at ~21000
miles) and it's worse than before, but still doesn't happen all the time
- it's usually when I'm accelerating hard, and change up at ~110 mph.

So... when I get a round tuit /I'll pull the plates out, but I'm
wondering whether I should order replacements before I start, or if
there's likely to be enough friction material left that they'll respond
to the concrete treatment?

(Oh, and if someone can give approximate prices and/or recommendations
for replacement plates, both OEM and aftermarket, it'd be much
appreciated...)/

You got my hopes of a getting a free clutch from the dealer then! From what I've just read it apppears they'll probably just fit you the later (mille?) clutch in exchange for a large sum of monies. O b*gger.

Oldgit, what year of build is your Falco ?
Is it a black 2000 model or later ?

Ray.
