I feel it's time to do something about the rear suspension, so another better shock is needed.
Since I'm on a tight budget I'm thinking about a second hand shock. But no firms that scrap MCs can find anything for me, because of lack of information.
So here's a few data needed:
* C-C length (i belive it's 315 mm but should be 315-330 mm)
* Bolt dimensions (upper & lower)
* Width of head (upper & lower)
* Anything else needed to indentify a compatible shock!

OR almost even better: A list of MC brands and models that as standard have a nice shock that would fit a Falco!

I heard that Bitubo is now offering a replacement shock for the Falco. It's supposedly cheaper than most, and appears well made, though I haven't spoken to anyone who had tried one.

An equally fine article on a replacement shock can be found here, with dimensions.

Ahh, feck the dinner... I just read the articles (again). Crmc33: Yes, great data :
Y2K Aprilia Falco
Sachs RSV Mille shock;
Shock length: 316mm - 324mm (adjuster has 1mm pitch thread)
Preload range 50mm
M10 bolt mountings
Top eyelet width 39mm
Bottom eyelet width 28mm
Centre line of shock body to tip of schrader valve 3.6cm

Bef, only relevent measure I could find in that article was length. Anyway, I've just sent a mail to Technoflex for an up-to-date price on a Technoflex 643. Realy sounds good with a high/low-speed setting feature.

CBR900? I have a vague memory of an article about that, or was it a thread somewhere. Anyone got a clue? What years, what features, how good, how easy to fit, etc...

Cheers, Tokas, since you've asked, about the Fireplace shock:
my dealer asked me why on earth anyone would replace a crappy shock with another crappy shock. That's the CBR900 comment you may have been looking for.
The guy races so he knows about shocks I think. He uses Ohlins himself (sponsorship) but highly recommended Technoflex. After I'd got it I hasten to add!

Hope this helps.
