Just got back from a week in the Windy City & was amazed to see the total lack of bikes out there.

Don't any of you Americans ride your bikes in cities?

In 8 days all I saw was a couple of trail bikes, a parked BMW & a few scooters!

Not a hint of Italian bikes anywhere & the closest thing to a Harley was a store selling merchandise.

I'm in London & can see more than this in my compnay parking lot.....

The sad fact is that most Americans consider motorcycles to be toys. Aside from being able to use the car pool lanes traffic laws don't favor bikes. California is the only state where lane splitting is allowed. I commute on a bike and people assume that my car is in the shop or that I am just odd.

Maybe the temperature (A high of between -5 and 0 around this time of year) has something todo with it. Also Illinois is flat as a pancake and the roads are dead straight, where's the fun in that.
