Has anyone else out there experienced there chain rubbing on the side wall of there rear tyre? I recently fitted a Dunlop D207RR 190/50 as detailed in manual and my chain has started to rub the side of the tyre. It is not to bad but is leaving lube on the tyre( will get nasty in the rain i think). Just wandered if anyone else had the same problem and if there is something i can do to rectify it?

I had exactly the same problem when I swapped from a 190 Pilot to a 190 207. Apparently, its the profile of the 207 that's the problem..if you compare one to most other tyres, they're very 'fat'! The only way round it was to move the wheel very slightly out of alignment, and so away from the chain, by way of the adjusters. I'm sure some out there will react with horror to that, but I didn't notice any difference in feel or handling...and at least it was no longer in my mind that the rear tyre was possibly about to blow out!!

I have a 207 RR 190 and have no problems what so ever with the chain rubbing it. The wheel out of alignment trick does not sound like something I would like to try. Have you checked your chain is at the right tension?

The obvious solution is to use the 180/55.

I also had no problem with the 207 that came off, just the new one. I have been back to the shop today they have been in contact with Dunlop who must know something about this as they just authorised them to put me a new one on free of charge..However i did go for the 180/55 at the advice of the shop, and it clears by miles.......

Wasn't there some talk in previous posts that the 190 size tyre touches the chain when a front sprocket has been fitted the wrong way round?

I'm pretty sure one owner described he found that he'd fitted a 16T sprocket incorrectly, he flipped the sprocket around and the problem was gone.
