Hi all, I am looking to buy a 2002 Mille (UK) within the next couple of weeks (can't wait!). But I would like some advice to avoid any surprises!!

1) Are the 2002 bikes still restricted? If so is the warranty affected if it is de-restricted?

2) This will be my first V-Twin, so what is the best bit of advice you can offer someone going from an in-line four to a V-Twin?

Cheers

Hi shanksy,
I came from in line 4 to mille 2 weeks ago, a 02 model straight from dealers. I am sure going for new is the way to go if you have never had a twin, reason being it gives you a chance to learn how to handle the power delivery while running it in at mostly below 6k revs.
I was nearly spat off on the highside whilst running in (ham fisted right hand) so treat throttle on the exit with a little caution, once thats sorted it im sure it will be GREAT, (i'll let you know).

Dont worry about de-restriction / warranty, dealer will de-restrict.

There are 3 restrictors, ECU wire, airbox plate, and baffle in tailpipe, dealer done 2 on mine, ECU and airbox, did baffle myself straight away as i thought it was pointless having 2 done and not other.
BTW if dealers dont do baffle drop me a mail and i will explain how to do it (5 min job) fastdaz@btinternet.com

Hey Fastdaz,

Thanks for the info. I also prefer to buy new as I know the history of the bike then as well.

Can't wait to get this sorted now - I am just waiting for the finance to clear on my current bike but I am off to a dealer tomorrow to see what sort of deal I can do anyway.

Thanks again
