Kevin et all,
I haven't considered a winter trackday before but I'm totally hooked now - on trackdays that is, not on frozen plums, so I'm planning on picking a day with good weather forcast a day or two in advance and booking - if Donnington the other week was anything to go by(mid Oct), there will be places available!
Brands is high on my list as its close but others considered depending on location/craving...
Oh yes, one other thing Kevin, I'm about to see a man about some very special beans, so though I'll be wearing this face and probably this one too
, all your going to see is this
as I go 'touring' round

Being self employed I would prefer a weekend - can't afford to lose a days wages and pay for a trackday. I suppose its too dark for an evening session .....

Same situation for me as Kevin I'm afraid Dave. You C++ boys can get a day off whenever, what are they gonna do - sack yer?
Sat 30th Nov Silverstone (100% Bikes, £99), hows about that for an initial thought and we see how the weather pans out?
I notice there are no Brands weekend dates!

Famous Spa circuit isnt it?
Been there a few times but closer to the track
Best circuit in the world (for cars that is) and no F1 because our frends in Brussel. Yes the same who restrict our bikes! And make Jorge a living

Got my coat!

hehe - indespensable I am
welcome aboard all, glad I'm not the only lunatic
Kevin, enthusiastic bugger, got me on the idea of a 'cold' one, wouldn't it be a pity if you now decide to 'bail out'
I'll be staying aware of what's on when and attempting to keep those days clear, I reckon if we're luky we may get a handfull of weekends where its not too wet/windy/cold - we can do severe weather training anytime for free!
Silverstone 30th's a good start for me.

it is Hansie, Beffy suggested it as a possible venue for a meet next year - for cars you say? Oi, you just looking for an easy life little caped one
By Hansie on Thursday, November 07, 2002 - 11:48 pm: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Is Spa open for trackdays than , I thought Zolder was the only one in Belgium for this.
There is also a track named Assen ,not sure they have trackdays.

'ardcore mo fo's,
I'm going racing caspian sea monsters that weekend. Actually, thats a lie I'm just sick of everyone doing interesting things (Kev). Whats wrong with sitting at home in front of the fire and completely 'wasting' entire weekends.
Anyway, I digress, I've taken some others from uktrackdays.co.uk.
I've not been to Rockingham before, only ever done 10 or so laps of Cadwell on a crappy Duck748. Did Silverstone full circuit earlier this year but the best part of the track is the bit you dont get on the short circuit. I never really understood why the frig they don't just open the full circuits on these days.
Cadwell would be my first choice but I'd do any of these beauties:
Sat 23 Nov 2002 Rockingham National Circuit 100% Bikes Bike Firm 3 groups, with free instruction, 9am - 4pm 105dba £79
Sat 30 Nov 2002 Silverstone National Circuit 100% Bikes Bike Firm 3 groups with free instruction, hire bikes, tyres, photographer and much more! 9.30am-dusk 105dba £99
Sat 07 Dec 2002 Cadwell Park Full Circuit Tracktime Promotions Bike Firm Book both days & pay £150 Running times. 9.00 - 4.00 30 minutes Lunch 105dba £79
Sat 07 Dec 2002 Rockingham National Circuit 100% Bikes Bike Firm 3 groups, with free instruction, 9am - 4pm 105dba £79
Sun 08 Dec 2002 Cadwell Park Full Circuit Tracktime Promotions Bike Firm 105dba £79
Easy now,

Kevin, you sticking to orig plans?
By Befbever on Friday, November 08, 2002 - 04:50 am: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Yes, Spa is open for trackdays or so I've heard.
And you can use your Renes.
Never mind, I've told Hansie next time I'm coming over for a track day he's coming with. In the fast group of course, is there any other?
F1? Wots that?

I am stuck. The weekend of the 23rd we have an office move. The next weekend I am parachuting, the following weekend I have another office move. I won't know until the week leading up to the moves if I am on the rota to work.
I am not happy. I might have to miss saturday's jumps and just do sunday's jumps to fit Silverstone in.

I'm going to Brands on Saturday to see Jorge. I'm getting a service done as well as a few other bits and bobs to ensure I'm ready for the race day in question, whenever it may occur.
Anybody else going down? I'll be following the A205 to the A2, that way - you know...
I'm still up for one of the weekend dates.

No get the A20, via Catford,
We will be doing a track day at Brands this Thursday, testing our Mille and our rider, to see how he behaves in the rain. We are intending to race her next season in the battle of twins, together with Simon Morph and his Mille, should be fun

Kevin
By Tinkytot on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 05:46 am: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Alright Kevin - pretty early for a Sat morning, prolly leave around 10am.
Got a mild lash-up on Friday night at Nylon (London Wall, you been there?) so a proper early start will not be likely.
What you thinking??
- rob.
By Mr_Venjer on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 06:18 am: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Yeah, I've been to Nylons, on London Wall ?! I am going to old St for a drink. A mate has a bar/restaurant recently opened and he has music downstairs. Last week I turned up to see about 10 women - 6 stunners - leaving. I'll be there after my radio show.
I want to get lashed friday too so I'll head up to Renegade at about 11:00. Jorge I am not staying all afternoon this time as I have studio stuff to do so keep your products and gadgets to yourself
My heel guard has come loose so I think your welding man might have to take a butchers. Plus a follow on to my gunky rear shock which is no longer gunky but my Oasis bottle does not have anything in it ??
Should this be the case ?
KEvin

Nylon is a load of shite but it's a work thing so I have to make an appearence.
I'm gonna come and see you later, like it or not!

Be at Brands Tomorrow and find out, I have been shaking all day , she has not been out since Assen
I hope she does not get a cold, with all this Engulish vether?
The bad news is, I had to nick some wheels from a Falco to use it as wets
By Befbever on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 12:47 am: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Ah, the Falco. Is there anything they can't do?

Why not just look at http://www.biketrackdays.co.uk for a full listing of track days?
By Mr_Venjer on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 05:52 am: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Bef, the breather thing that was moved when my airkit was installed was meant to spew its guts over the chain. I found a whole lot of gunk over my rear shock. It was moist too .
Anyway, an instructor at a trackday said my bike did not look right from beind, it was bouncing and squirming all over the place. I thought it was simply my riding style . He had a look and pointed at the gunk on the rear shock. He thought it must be leaking/faulty and not performing as it should.
I went to see my good friend Jorge. He moved the breather thing and engineered an Oasis bottle to take the stuff that was spewing out. I expected the bottle to have some gunk in it by now but Its empty. The rear shock is not gunky any more either so I am baffled. What was the gunk in the first place and where has it gone now ??
Anyone want to take my laymens terms explanation and tell me what the flip is going on then ??!!
Thanks
Kevin

I can well imagine!

Indeed - PLEASE let me know how she and he (the rider) get on.

What's bad about that?! It's really not a problem, especially considering the circumstances, so stop being silly and come out from hiding behind that sofa!

Well it was an interesting day
My baby got wet, cold and and maltreated, but she got her back, like a Mule she kicked the rider twice teaching him a lesson that he will not forget , "DON'T MESS WITH MY TORQUE"
Let's just say that I have seen slides in corners, highsides in the most awkward of places, but I had never seen a bike through a rider off for discontent, in a straight line
still

Trev, you're confusing me now.
Kevin, I thought it was slang!
Without seeing it, it sounds like your shock is leaking! Ohlins is it?
Jorge, sorry to hear that. I take it you wished you'd have let an older rider try it now eh?
Hope she'll feel better soon.
and more importantly that those Falco wheels didn't get damaged

Bef - when was the last time you spoke to Jorge on the telephone?! Alternatively, email me!
Quote:Trev, you're confusing me now.
Jorge - does this mean it was who I think it might have been (and if not, WHEN are you going to tell me who it WAS?!)? If so, I can't say "I told you so" because I didn't, but... (and I DID tell Paul

Wheels are fine are so is the rider
There are no secrets, "Little John" as he is known to us all, was last season, team mating with Trevor, like Trevor, if it was not the engine, something else would happen.
Like Trevor, we got attached and I wanted to see if Little John had what it takes to be a racer, due to the above, I never had the change to the extreme that on the last race, LJ goes out on one of the fatest bikes in it's class, only to be black flagged due to engine blow up.
I could not believe it and due to such, I race prepared my Baby and told LJ to take her out on the track for two reasons;
1- I wanted to see her new tunned engine (by Wim), on the track.
2- I wanted to see LJ on a bike that had three weeks preparation (by Paul) with no excuses for a stupid bolt to come loose.
The weather was terrible and I had to be? to allow a bike to be tested for the first time by a rider who never sat on anything bigger than a straight 4, 400.
I had two opportunities, one to see if LJ could marry one of the most difficult bikes out there, the other, how he could handle it in the rain?
To make a long story short, to both he took like fish to water, the only problem was his understanding the meaning "AP torque".
LJ, handle the bike well and translated all is feelings to the pit crew. His first crash was a mistery of which he himself could not explain.
The bike was repaired and back on the track. I decided to positioned where (in the straight) he fell, I needed to find out why?
Soon on the second lap I realized and asked one of the Marshals to Black flag him, only to be told no, cause he crashed again in the very place
What happened was very simple, instead of using engine braking and down shifting at the same time for maximum braking, LJ was free wheeling the Mille before letting the clutch out. The rest you can figure out.
By Befbever on Saturday, November 16, 2002 - 12:31 pm: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
1. One of the most difficult bikes out there? You MUST be joking!
2. Freewheeling eh? I thought only Doohan was able to do that.
If you've got the bike set up anywhere near how I set up mine, it's one of the best bikes to have in the wet.
Well the Falco is anyway...
So what's the verdict? Does LJ have a place in the team or do you want an embryo to try out next?
By Powermaster on Saturday, November 16, 2002 - 12:32 pm: ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Sorry, forgot to mention, on the same track, there was a rider that I wanted to join us for next season, LJ more than once followed him for around 3 laps without much of a problem, this was noted by onlookers.
We intend to test LJ in the dry and see what he has to offer, If all goes well we intend to train LJ and run him in the Battle of the Twins in preparation for WSB.

Must not disengage drivetrain and freewheel into Paddock Hill bend
