I've got a question for you guys:
Why is the picture quality always so terrible (lousy colour, sharpness, etc.) when we get television images from Laguna Seca? Anyone know this?
Thanks

Quite obviously because of the California required emissions equipment. That charcoal filter really distorts the picture quality.
Some good races though, eh?

Well, the first heat was great until Haga fell off.
And I'm ashamed to say I still haven't seen the second one.
It just isn't the same if you have to watch a taped race and since I know the outcome and the quality is so bad and and...

Think that would be cos of the differing TV picture standards Bef...
States+Japan use NTSC and UK and some of europe countries use PAL.
France uses SECAM which is similar to the PAL tv standard.
NTSC is based on a 60hz signal whereas PAL is 50Hz
I believe the poor looking picture quality you and I see is in the translation/conversion process between the two differing standards.
You ever noticed the same sort of pic quality from racing from Japan, I certainly have.
I studied electronics BTW! Not that I can remember much since I don't do that for a job.

Errrrghhh I wouldn't want to waste valuable chip mayo dipping a cigar in it!
Chips + Mayo = Yum
Chips + Mayo + Belgium Beer = Double Yum!
